USED SCHOOLBOARDS FOR ST. MARYS PRIMARY SCHOOL TECHIMAN

The state schools in Ghana have only very limited funds available for teaching materials and are very often inadequately equipped for this reason. To make matters worse, there are not enough competent teachers and classes are almost always overcrowded. In Berlin, on the other hand, schools have been converted from blackboards to whiteboards. The used blackboards should be disposed of for a fee.

When a Berlin-based company active in this field learned about the difficult teaching and learning situation at St. Mary Primary School in Techiman, it directly offered 30 school blackboards as a donation in kind. Annekatrin Jacobs and Kofi Mahama Ajima organized the transport of the chalkboards by sea freight to Ghana in May 2022, flew personally to Ghana and supervised the container clearance as well as the onward transport to the school in Techiman. The principal, the teachers and the children were delighted. Each school class received its own blackboard, making it easier for the teachers to impart knowledge. The cost of this project was around 500 euros. Fortunately, the sea freight transport was again taken over by DHL Global Forwarding through the ILF of the DPDHL Group.
