CLEAN WATER FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD

In Ghana’s rural regions, only 66 percent of the population has access to clean drinking water. For this reason, children often walk many kilometers every day with heavy water canisters instead of going to school, just to fetch water from streams, lakes, or puddles. The polluted water and lack of hygiene often lead to diseases that can be life-threatening, especially for children. A fountain would change everything.

When the founder of the association, Annekatrin Jacobs, recognized this during her first visit to Techiman, she decided to build a fountain to provide clean water to as many families as possible. Without further ado, she organized a car with a deep drilling machine to drill a well and bought a large water tank in which the water can be heated by the sun. The cost of this action was about 2,500 euros.
