SCHOOL MATERIAL FOR ST. MARYS PRIMARY SCHOOL TECHIMAN

In Ghana, school attendance is compulsory – however, school fees must be paid at almost all schools. In rural areas, this is not so easy. Many parents, who often have four children or more, cannot afford school fees, materials and uniforms. To make matters worse, many children help out in the fields. Yet education should offer children the chance of a better life.

Therefore, we decided to organize school supplies and equipment for St. Mary’s Primary School in Techiman. Supporters Andrea and Norbert Diehn provided coloring books and crayons for more than 200 primary school children as well as 10 computers, 10 printers and 50 packages of copying paper. DHL Global Forwarding kindly covered the costs for the transport of the school project.

In October 2019, Annekatrin, Andrea, Norbert and Kofi flew to Ghana to personally hand over the material and equipment at St. Mary’s Primary School in Techiman. The German supporter team was warmly welcomed by teachers and school children and guided through the entire school. They were given an insight into the daily school routine and had the opportunity to talk to teachers and children – an unforgettable day. This campaign cost around 1,500 euros.

  • School children can use the coloring books to strengthen their creativity, concentration and fine motor skills
  • Improved learning conditions for all children at St. Mary’s Primary School
  • The equipment makes it easier for teachers to prepare lessons and manage administration.
